Research & Development - Study 001

34% INCREASE IN TESTOSTERONE FROM NMDA™ IN 24 HOURS!

NMDA™ Pilot study shows some impressive hormone increasing effects in unique case study.

Introduction:

Due to the overwhelming amount of published studies indicating increases in testosterone, DHEA, IGF-1 and other hormones after ingestion of D-Aspartic Acid and its direct metabolite N-Methyl-D-Aspartate in both human and animal models, we performed the following pilot case study to help substantiate these results. This preliminary "in house beta test" used a highly skilled jiu-jitsu practitioner volunteer from Muscle Warfare training facility.

Description:

A member from Muscle Warfare Gym (well trained athlete) volunteered to participate in a unique "in house" pilot study to help demonstrate the acute (short term) efficacy of NMDA with a single use dosing protocol. Placebo or NMDA was ingested prior to training with blood test occurring 2 hours after dosing. 75 mg of l-Glutamine powder (placebo) was used on day one and 75 mg of NMDA (D-Aspartic Acid) was used on day two. (No other pre workout supplements were taken in combination with these ingredients. Test subject was not informed (blind study) on which day he was to receive the placebo or real NMDA supplement. Test subject was screened for taking hormone increasing supplements and other criteria prior to testing. For additional insight, both IGF-1 (somatomedin c) and DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) were added to the second day blood testing panels.

Method:

Day 1:
Testosterone was tested on day 1 with ZRT LABS™ blood spot tests taking place at 4:30 in the afternoon just prior to athlete training in Jiu-Jitsu (baseline). Placebo was administered immediately after blood spot testing after which the test subject immediately went to the gym and trained a normal Jiu-Jitsu class, which incorporated techniques and live rolling session. A second blood spot test was taken two hours after initial dose (one hour after training/ 6:30) to check for increase of testosterone levels. (placebo result)

(After testing: Test subject was instructed to get the same rest and eat the same amount and types of food, at same time, as previous day to control variables.)

Day 2:
On day 2, Testosterone was tested via ZRT LABS™ blood spot test at approximately the same time of previous days testing (4:30). Also added to the blood spot panel on day two was IGF-1 (somatomedin c) and DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) (baseline). Immediately after blood spot test, subject took NMDA (D-Aspartic Acid) supplement and proceeded to train jiu-jitsu in same class setting as prior days test. A second blood spot test was taken two hours after initial dose (one hour after training or 6:30) to check for increase of testosterone, DHEA levels and IGF-1 levels. (control result)

Results:

Subjective Feedback:

(Subject was not informed until entire testing was complete as to which test included placebo vs. control.)

Day one: Subject reported no change in workout intensity or "feel" from supplement ingestion.

Day two: Test subject claimed to "feel" more aggressive and have a better workout on day two.

Blood Testing Scores:

Hormone test chart

TESTOSTERONE

Pre vs. post training levels
(-2.25%) drop in testosterone with Placebo
(+12%) increase of testosterone with NMDA
(+14.25%) INCREASE in 2 hours with NMDA vs. placebo

DHEA

11% Increase of DHEA with NMDA use. 174ug/DL vs. 193 ug/DL

IGF-1

12% Increase of IGF-1 with NMDA use. 192ng/ml - 215 ng/ml

Discussion:

Subjective response to NMDA use was noted to be positive as test subject reported feeling more aggressive and having a more productive workout with NMDA. Testosterone levels showed the most dramatic improvement in the study of all hormones tested. Levels Increased +34% in peak value from day one to day two and increasing 14.25% in just 2 hours when comparing the increase in levels elicited from placebo vs. NMDA (control). DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) levels showed an 11% increase when comparing (day 2) pre training (baseline) with post training NMDA supplement use. On Day 2, IGF-1 levels also showed a 12% increase with use of NMDA pre-workout when comparing baseline vs. post workout blood analysis.

Conclusion:

Although limited in scale, the pilot study results agree with previous published studies that show potent potential for NMDA's acute testosterone increasing effects. Additionally there is indication of potential for NMDA to induce acute DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) and IGF-1 (Somatomedin C) hormone increasing affects as well. Longer term pilot studies should be employed for further details of effects of chronic supplementation on hormone levels. These results are preliminary and will require more data.
